Explore faith

Are you new to faith and not sure where to start?

Here are a few things to guide you as you explore and grow in faith. Remember: your goal is a relationship with Jesus, not to check items off of a to-do list. But there are certain practices that can help you connect with His teachings.

Read the Bible.

The Bible is a library of books and can be intimidating, but there are a lot of tools that can help you tackle it in a way that makes sense for your life. If you are new to faith or have never read the bible before, we suggest you begin in the New Testament with one of the Gospels. John or Luke is a great place to start.

A Couple of Tools for Bible Reading:

YouVersion’s App and website have some excellent reading plans and devotionals that can help both new and mature Christians better understand God’s word. Their mobile app is a great way to have bite-sized chunks of the Bible available at your fingertips. Click here for one of our favorite reading plans for new believers.

The Bible Project’s App and Website are phenomenal tools for understanding the Bible. They have short video breakdowns of all the biblical books, many themes, characters, words, and more. Their app has these built into its reading plans. It is like a personal guide cluing you into important information as you read. Get the app here.

Spend time in prayer.

Prayer is an important part of building a relationship with Jesus. There isn’t an exact right or wrong way to pray—but there are practices that can help you begin an ongoing conversation that will last the rest of your life.

declare your faith through baptism.

Baptism is an act of obedience that represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus through submersion in water. Baptism does not change your standing with God—Jesus did that on the cross—but baptism is an outward sign of the inward decision that you have made to follow Jesus.

Join a group.

One of the best ways to grow your faith is to live in community with other believers. Community Groups allow us to be intentional with our faith journey by connecting and studying with others. We have a variety of groups that span life’s many stages, available to join during our spring, summer, and fall sessions. We also have Growth Groups, an intensive 11-month track for those who want to go deeper.

still have questions?
We’re here to help.

When we grow up, so do our questions about God. At Centerpoint, we love difficult questions and make it a priority to help people feel safe to ask them. Our pastors are available for faith conversations and questions. They hold degrees in theology and biblical studies and have many years of experience working with people in various ministries.

If you have questions about faith, the church, the Bible, etc., we would love to process those with you.
