For some people, faith can be very personal, and starting something new can be awkward or uncomfortable. One way to help with this new journey in faith is to let someone know. Share your decision with a trusted friend or family member, or one of our staff or volunteers. We would love to celebrate with you.

For some people, the bible can be intimidating or overwhelming. If that’s you, you’re not alone. It’s helpful to understand that scripture is not simply a book, but a collection of writings in various literary styles, so you don’t have to start at the beginning. We have found it’s most helpful for those new to faith or exploring faith to begin with the eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry found in the beginning of the New Testament, titled Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. A great resource for this is the Youversion Bible App or the BibleProject.

Communication is an important part of any relationship, and prayer is how we communicate with God. There isn’t an exact right or wrong way to pray—it’s more about us turning towards God. Most people begin by praying about situations or events in their lives, and then transition to praying for more internal character or life changes within themselves as they learn and follow the way of Jesus. Want some guidance? Here’s a reading plan to help.

Baptism is a public act of obedience that represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus through submersion in water. Baptism does not change your standing with God—Jesus did that on the cross—but baptism is an outward sign of the inward decision that you have made to follow Jesus. We celebrate baptisms about every 8 weeks at Centerpoint. Learn more and sign up here.

Faith isn’t meant to be a solo journey. One of the best ways to grow in your faith is to surround yourself with others who are building their lives around Jesus. Whether you start by joining a group or jumping into volunteering, you’ll find connection, community, and a chance to make a real impact. You can sign up to volunteer here or join a group here, or by visiting our app.
